Our Table is a unique event that gives participants a glimpse at the scope of hunger and financial hardship in Johnson County. During this intimate pilot event, guests will represent real Johnson County families in an interactive poverty simulation.
Due to limited space, the event on May 11 is invite only. We will be launching a larger-scale version of Our Table in November 2023 that will be open to the entire community. We value your feedback during this pilot event so we can ensure our community event is the best it can possibly be!
How is Our Table different from the Hunger Banquet?
Our Table is a reimagined version of the Hunger Banquet in which guests participate in an interactive poverty simulation, highlighting how “good choices” lead to different outcomes for individuals with different socioeconomic backgrounds. Unlike the Hunger Banquet, Our Table is an intimate, warm gathering with minimal programming and an opportunity to explore hunger in our community with your individual table. Dinner will be served to all guests family style.
