Love in Action: Spend Valentine’s Day Giving Back
Valentine’s Day is all about connection, but this year it can also be about community. Many of us are searching for ways to feel hopeful and to make the world a better place in tangible, meaningful ways. And what better day than February 14 to turn love into action? Whether you’re celebrating with friends, family, or a special someone, you can spend the day doing something fun while directly supporting neighbors in crisis right here in Johnson County.
Start the festivities at Vesta, which will be donating a portion of all proceeds on February 14, making it the perfect place to enjoy dinner and romantic ambiance.
Then, enjoy some hockey at the Iowa Heartlanders vs. Kalamazoo Wings game at 6 p.m., where CommUnity Crisis Services is the Nonprofit of the Game. With each discounted ticket purchased through our special link, you’ll be entered into a raffle to ride the Zamboni and receive a CommUnity Crisis Services t-shirt. Best of all, $10 from every ticket will go directly toward helping local neighbors who need support. It’s a high-energy, feel-good way to celebrate Valentine’s Day!
Looking for a last-minute gift? Kendra Scott in Coralville will donate 20% of sales on Valentine’s Day when you mention CommUnity at checkout, and you can shop online from February 13–15 using the code GIVEBACK-LBUEC.
These simple choices – where you shop, where you dine, and how you spend your evening – add up to real impact for people facing crisis in our community.
This Valentine’s Day, let’s celebrate love in all its forms: love for one another, love for our neighbors, and love for the place we call home. Together, we can make the day brighter and make a difference that truly matters.
