Crisis Helpline Services answers 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline texts and chats in the state of Iowa and is a national backup center. If you or a loved one need emotional support, reach out to our trained counselors 24/7/365. We’re here to help with a wide variety of concerns.   

Mobile Crisis

Mobile Crisis Response dispatches mental health counselors to homes, schools, businesses, or public spaces where a mental health crisis is occurring. Anyone who is experiencing or is concerned about someone experiencing a mental health crisis can call.

The Food Bank at Pepperwood Plaza provides produce, bakery, deli, dairy, health, baby, hygiene and non-perishable items.

Residents of Johnson County, IA can receive grocery assistance once per week. Clients may choose their own items with some limits based on family size. Pre-made bags are available for individuals who prefer not to shop.

The Financial Support Program uses funds provided by generous private donors, the Consultation of Religious Communities, the St. Anthony’s Bread fund and other philanthropic organizations to help Johnson County individuals and families with basic needs.

Coping with Suicide Loss Support Group

A support group for those who have lost a loved one or friend to suicide meets the first Thursday of each month from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the GuideLink Center. These meetings offer a safe place to talk about memories, ongoing grief, and the stigma surrounding death by suicide. Participation is free and new members are encouraged to attend.
