TP is great for many things in October. Pranking your friends, becoming a mummy… the usual.
But it’s also a really important household hygiene item. Before 2020, you may not have thought much about reliable access to toilet paper. For many of our neighbors, however, TP has always been a stressor and an expense they have to budget for. Toilet paper is not covered under SNAP benefits, so it is in high demand at the Food Bank – especially now.
As costs continue to rise, local families are forced to re-prioritize their limited grocery budgets. Each roll of toilet paper we can provide relieves some of the stress over the seemingly unimportant (but truly very important) access to TP.
You can help by:
- Picking up an extra package of toilet paper at the store
- Donating one of the extra packs you keep handy after the start of the pandemic
- Hosting your own toilet paper drive at work, church, school, or in your neighborhood, or
- Making a cash donation to help the food bank buy toilet paper in bulk
Drop off donations of TP at Pepperwood Plaza, 1045 HWY 6 East, Iowa City, Monday – Friday from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Pro Tip! If holding a toilet paper drive, host a re-packing party to open packages and individually wrap rolls in water-proof bags, like these!
