In October, we know you want to celebrate the spooky season by pranking your friends and neighbors or wrapping yourself up in toilet paper to look like a mummy. We also know that toilet paper is an especially precious resource since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. We hope this October, that you’ll forgo the pranks (at least the ones that involve TP) and instead help us stock the Food Bank with this staple item.
Toilet paper is in high demand at the Food Bank because it is not covered in what people can purchase with their SNAP benefits (sometimes called “food stamps”). For many of the families that visit our Food Bank, receiving even a single roll of toilet paper can mean one less expense they have to worry about on a tight budget.
You can help by:
- Picking up an extra package of toilet paper next time you’re at the store
- Hosting your own toilet paper drive at work, church, school, or in your neighborhood, or
- Making a cash donation to help the food bank buy toilet paper in bulk
Drop off donations of TP at Pepperwood Plaza, 1045 HWY 6 East, Iowa City, Monday – Friday from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
